i don't like humidity. tornado alley does not appeal to me. any state where a cat 5 spinning in the gulf of mexico could make landfall is out. the same with the east coast. i don't like overly moist areas - scratch pacific northwest. fault line? nope. below sea level? you kidding me? i'll drive through new orleans real fast - maybe stop for a po boy.
Kind of a combo of regions.... really any location with low 20-30% humidity, and 75 to 85 degrees (anything lower in temp and i shiver and reach for a heavy cable-knit sweater.
When I was in Malaysia on the island of Borneo I was in the center where there is a small mountain range... It was sprinkling and it was very lush... around 50-60 degree weather... talk about perfect! I love my 50s-60s-70s. 40s are great too. Not too mention how green it was, felt like paradise! Towards the coast of Borneo, it's quite like Miami, maybe not as hot, and I enjoyed that too actually. Just not as much as the mountains. Cambodia, more like inland Louisiana, was too much for me. 100+ and extreme humidity? No thanks. I can barely handle the 100+ I get now.
Arizona is too sunny and... monotone. The lack of weather change irks me in a way. I get ecstatic when I see overcast. SoCal is the same. NOLA was great because it rained everyday and after the heat of the day (which is too hot for me but living in Phoenix my whole life you know how to tolerate such things) felt perfect at night.
So for me? More humid, green, leaning on the cold side? Oceanic? Maybe humid continental? I am voting for Oceanic.
Also, Hawaii should be its own option. Nothing really is like Hawaii.
Heat, heat and more heat. Make no mistake, I loved growing up with snow and wouldn't trade those childhood memories for anything. But I'm at a point now where I don't want to deal with snow or the cold weather. They both suck the life out of me.
Personally being born and raised in the Midwest I need a variety in weather. Maybe not as crazy as Chicago weather is but I don't want the same weather 24/7 either. Don't get me wrong I understand why people live in FL, AZ, etc but no variety is a no go.
I prefer Humid Continental Climate like the Upper Midwest compared to Humid Subtropical Climate that we have in the South, especially in Arkansas.
It's one of the main reasons I hope to move to either the Twin Cities in Minnesota or Madison, Wisconsin whenever a job opportunity in my field becomes available. It is not wise to move without a job lined up in this current economy.
