Northern Texas (especially the Panhandle) can see breaks from heat as well, in times where a low pressure trough is able to penetrate.
But, the overall point is that the window for summer in North Georgia is no less than similar latitudes in Texas; both start getting fall cold fronts at the same time-frame. And its the same for all of Georgia compared to corresponding latitudes in Texas.
The Panhandle is not called northern Texas....its just the Panhandle. The areas around Dallas/Fort Worth/Arlington Metroplex and Wichita Falls are North Texas.
That's why I hate when people refer to the Metroplex or DFW as "North Texas" like what was done in the Super Bowl. Outside of this area, people think that the Panhandle is being discussed. I even like "North Central Texas" better, which is the actual term for the area where DFW is.
