Perhaps a city could have more visitors than rooms sold. Could be more people staying in a room, also perhaps some reserve rooms but don't show up? Just speculating.

It is the reverse that has me confused. LV SOLD more rooms than the number of people they have visiting. 38M Visitors to 40M rooms sold.

Does Vegas have 110K hotel rooms; that would be the number required to on a daily average get to 40 mil rooms sold

According to the not always reliable source known as the internet, Las Vegas has more than 150,000 hotel rooms. They have to...some of the conventions they attract draw more than 75,000 people.

lol, I guess people can book two rooms, one for the family and one for if he gets lucky.

also I have seen people book rooms, then change their minds and leave for another hotel.

In Vegas our rooms were just a place to shower and store our crap

Las Vegas is practically a suburb of So.Cal so between Vegas and LA there is total dominance, I actually thought NY would have more visitors than either Vegas or LA.

John- this is the very reason I started the topic " What American Cities Do You Think People Most Envy and Why " because of comments like from Louie/Louie and other Mid-westeners who are jealous and envy of other cities. Comments like "who would want to visit Atlanta or does this include layover" shows their jealousy and ignorance. I've visted Atlanta on a couple of occassions and enjoyed it. Could I live there, probably not but there is something about the city that's has that "uunk" to it or "it factor"...sorry Mr. Louie/Louie.

Also, to those who don't know, if airport layovers were included in the "most visitied totals" then Chicago, Dallas, and Atlanta would be on top, don't you think? Duh! They are the busiest airports in the US.

Dude- TX got its last never. It faired far worst in hosting the Superbowl than Atlanta. Heck, at least people had places to hang out during the game.
