Second, I would bet that ATL ranks up there for the same reason Indianapolis does; conventions. Indianapolis is a major city for conventions; it is my understanding that ATL is as well.
For Atlanta it's a combination of:
1. conventions and trade shows - some of which draw 100,000 or more...Atlanta is one of the top 5 convention cities in the U.S.
2. sporting events - NCAA Final Four, Super Bowl, SEC Tournament, Peach Bowl, NASCAR events...these types of events draw enough fans to fill the Dome or Atlanta Motor Speedway
3. tourism - historic site like the King Center, and special weekends like New Year's Eve, Gay Pride, or the Dogwood Fesitval.
wow L.A. is so high, I thought nobody cared. I guess Hollywood keeps the city in the works.
