Luckily the people of West Virginia and Alabama have not been ruined the way people in cities have. Why do you think people are moving out of these corrupt cities. No decent person want to live with the trash they produce.

Yes, yes I know everyone is American, united in diversity and all that. But really, would you say that white sothern Americans and white northern Americans are two different nations? The south and the north early became separated in to two different economical systems (or niches). The south and the north has a history of being politically separated, and even waging war on one another. There are even today differences in identity, language and values and so on. From an anthropological point of view that would probably be enough to categorize southerners and northerners as being different peoples/nations/groups (whatever).

They were, to some extent, at one time. But they are no longer so divided, as are the two factions represented today by the somewhat misleading labels "liberals" and "conservatives" which pretty much characterize the whole nation. Just look at the county-level elections results "purple" map for an example. The nation is much more mobile, and the media is much more real-time and coast to coast so that people have different perspectives than their ancestors did in the old days.

N / S divide is defining and remains so as evidenced by most of last 150 years of Presidential elections and much much more.
E / W was not that important before WWII and has not eclipsed E/W in overall cultural or political importance. In some people's thinking, sure. Mainly westerners. But in lifestyle, the west is as urban / suburban as east. The south has higher % rural residents and I don't think it is close.
Politics and economic history is more important than climate and population density to date.

Midwest have a similar % of rural residents as well.
This article seems to have gotten it backwards. From watching the actions of people it is my opinion that the people in Northern states are into minding each others business while the people in the South have respect for each other enough that they trust their neighbors enough to realize they can stand on their own and do not get into each others business unless a neighbor needs help.
This is easy to see from the posts on here. Northerners are always telling us Southerners how much more they know than we do when it is my opinion that the opposite is true.
I recently had three idiots tell me that my niece was not healed by God. Wonder how they could know that? I didn't do the Northern thing and go in and tell them that was not the only one miracle I had experienced. I just laughed at their ignorance. But nothing they said influenced me at all because I realized they didn't know what they were talking about. I respect their right to believe or not to believe. Too bad they did not respect me to know what I was talking about.
Don't you all get tired of all those demonstrators?
