Hello,

I'm thinking about of relocating either to South Florida, or Mckinny, Texas to start a new life, possibly on my own. Can anyone give me some advise? Thanks!

I think Texas is going to be the place to relocate to. I need some peace and quiet and will need to rent a place. I work in higher education. Any comments/tips will be appreciated.

McKinny is a northern suburb of Dallas. I would choose Texas for many reasons. It seriously all comes down to what you want out of a city and state. If you're a beach and Disney person and like it warm year round then obviously choose south Florida. And I assume you will be working at a university or a college of some sort so I would do some deep research at the facility I would be teaching at and see if that's where you can see yourself. I mean South Florida is cool to vacation in but live there......neh but like I said it all comes down to your desires/wants.

IMO, Florida has more redeeming qualities than Texas.

Don't choose Florida. You get hyped up by the beaches and Disney, and then you realize that's pretty much the only two things in Florida. It's pretty much just like everywhere else. Then you also have to deal with rude people, bad drivers, and 1000% humidity on 95+ F days. People are nicer in Texas, drivers are WAY better, and the summer isn't nearly as humid. Winter is worse though.

What part of South Florida are you thinking? That way we have a place to compare to.

Thanks, was thinking the same thing...why do people always say just Florida or part of it versus city specific? I mean look at a map for crying out loud, Florida is one of the largest states!

At least you can swim in the beaches in Florida! Who the hell goes to Galveston for a beach vacation? Broke ass Houstonians who don't mind swallowing SeaWater with crude Oil!

Well, you fail to bring up that DFW summers will be much hotter in actual temperatures. Some people would rather deal with the humidity. I'm one of them.
