Just cause they don't have a football team doesn't mean they don't love football or attend football games. There are lots of Raiders fans here, plus it's a big college football town, and people pack in to see UCLA and USC play. In LA, I'd say football over baseball.

How would you personally rank L.A. teams in popularity?

And Los Angeles is so rabid about football, two NFL teams left in the same month. Since then, there has been little popular groundswell for its return, while the Angels draw three million fans despite finishing 16 game under 500.
I think the NFL can and eventually will succeed here. But until then, the LA market drew 6,750,000 paying MLB customers, which is 1.5 and 2.4 million more than the respective combined counts of NY and CHI. That by itself is eye-popping.
Anecdotal evidence aside, the NFL number remains 0. Unless you were to look at TV ratings only (which would also show the NFL eating MLB's lunch in every market by a huge margin), there's really no other evidence to go on.

Totally wrong about Chicago. Chicago is a BEARS town first and foremost. Baseball while very important also takes a backseat when the Bulls are really good and the Blackhawks as well.
For Chicago:
1. Bears
2. Usually baseball but if the Bulls or Blackhawks are doing better during that time period baseball slides to 3rd place.
For example, no one cares about baseball in Chicago for right now. Everyone is paying attention to the Beards, and and waiting for D Rose's return and also the return of the reigning Stanley Cup champions.

I wasn't aware that the Dodgers were in last place this season?
I wonder who the Braves really are playing in the first round of the playoffs?

Yep, last place on July 1. Your guess is a good as mine. Kemp is out for the duration.
The Braves' low profile scares me.
