We all know about the places with fervent pride. Texas, NYC, Chicago, etc

But which places in particular have people that seem to have a minimal amount of pride for their home city/state?

Unfortunately, Phoenix is one of those cities due mostly to the high transient population. Most everyone who lives in the Phoenix metro area is from somewhere else ... and many transplants arrive from other large cities in the east or midwest.

I've noticed a very disappointing lack of hometown pride in the professional sports. Phoenix has all the pro sports you can ask for ... yet, all the transplants are loyal to their Cubs, their Steelers, their Yankees, (name any other team that isn't an Arizona team)! To a native, this is quite disgusting to say the least.

Because, seriously, who in the heck wants to follow some expansion teams that play in the worlds ugliest stadiums? Sorry, but if I was forced to move to AZ, I would NEVER follow the Coyotes, D-backs, Cards or Suns, nor would I expect transplants to drop the teams theyve followed their entire lives just because their address has changed. If you moved to IL you wouldnt all of a sudden be a Cubs, Hawks, Bears, Sox, Bulls fan, would you? Didnt think so.

And the only thing "disgusting" is the fact that the traditional sports world has been blemished by those atrocities that you call sports teams in Arizona. Theres no place for hockey in the desert. Theres no reason a baseball stadium should need A/C running all summer. And if you cant play football in the snow, you dont belong. I can see keeping the Suns, but hockey and football are northern winter sports, they dont belong down there. And besides, had it not been for all the transplants moving down there, you wouldnt even have any pro teams, your population wouldnt be large enough to support it. So, dont bite the hand that feeds, and lay off those who are loyal to teams that date waaaay back before Arizona was even a state.

As I have said before if you're born in Chicago they do something to you in the delivery room. ( maybe a few drops of river water -what doesn't
kill you only makes you stronger ) You may get disgusted or have your
heart broken than again the joy ( or relief ) can be better than sex (sadly)
for your Chicago sports team.
My own experience was to turn away a sure thing in 84...
Steve Garvey may be the most vile man in baseball.
Having said that I believe given enough time and history
Phoenix can grow a semblance of fan loyalty.
The way the Bulls are playing now I would rather watch the Suns.
Watching Gracie finally win one wasn't all bad.
I absolutely agree that football in the desert is just wrong.

Obviously wrong to assume everyone would get my
Chicago pop culture reference.

Gracie: Long time Cubs first baseman Mark Grace
84: Cubs collapsed to the Padres due in large part to Steve Garvey
Sure thing : Do I really have to explain that.
The whole delivery room thing: Just over emphasizing a Chicagoans
loyalty to it' teams.

I know who Gracie is, and also watched the 84 series against the Padres (whos fault was more Leon Durham's), etc. I just had (er, STILL have) a hard time understanding you.
