Des Moines and Iowa City/Cedar Rapids area if you are into healthcare or engineering (headquarters for Rockwell Collins-avionics division). Low COL in comparison to wages. I know a young couple (mid-20s) in central Iowa, making close to 6 figures in computer engineering. Saving their money and planning to move to the west coast in a couple years to put down a substantial down payment on a house there.
