The Silverdome was the only dome I've ever been in. I assume they all have that weird 'sucks you in' thing going on? I hated the vacuum effect in Detroit.
Wow, it's weird how two people can view something so differently. I loved going to the Silverdome as a kid, loved the "sucks you in" feeling, I was fascinated by the giant fiberglass roof. I loved driving into Pontiac and seeing the dome on the horizon, like a spaceship.

I guess it's just more proof that there are glass half full and glass half empty perspectives on everything.

The replacement, Ford Field, is clearly "nicer." But in my opinion it's a less interesting and impressive building than the Silverdome was. The Silverdome was also one of the most intimidating places in the NFL when it was sold out with 80,000 plus. 60,000 at Ford Field, not so much.

It's not a glass half full or half empty thing. It's just that we have different tastes.

I'll admit that the few times I went to the Silverdome were towards the end of it's life so it probably wasn't in the best condition. I've never been to Ford field. I went to other events at the Silverdome, not football.

The Palace is nice and I love Comerica Park. I love the area around Comerica Park. Detroit has done an excellent job in that region. Funny that the rest of the country assumes all of Detroit is a crime infested dump or abandoned altogether.
