I think the biggest wrong portrayal is definitely Washington, DC. Based on how it's portrayed, people would be falsely be lead to believe it's a city worth living in.
The best we can do is to educate people about an area that we know well.
What people do with that information is naturally up to them.
You mean our motto "Big Sky Country"? Yes, it's pretty cool. Even though I've lived here for almost ten years I was still staring at the hills and sky this morning and didn't even notice the railroad crossing gate coming down. I missed it by a few feet .
Even the eastern portion of the state is impressive.

In all honesty I never have given Montana too much thought. I guess when it comes to gun ownership I do, but besides that, no. I think it gets overshadowed by more known western states, and even lately, North Dakota. I have heard there are some great ski resorts in the western part of the state.

Certainly more dense than any cities in Georgia & about on par with Texas' smallest large metro.
San Antonio - 3,000/sq mi
Atlanta - 3,188/sq mi
Dallas - 3,518/sq mi
Houston - 3,623/sq mi
LOL thanks for the laugh
