I will be moving in two weeks....to where I don't know yet. I have done much research on various aspects, ie; state taxes, climate, political bent etc. I ask the forum here where in their experience the nicest, most hospitable people reside. Now I know everyone thinks where they currently reside is where the nicest people are. Having said that it is a fact that per geographical location the hospitality of the population differs. For example, I have lived in the PNW here by Seattle for the better part of 16 years and the people suck. Don't know if it's the gloom 9 months out of every year or what. Now I have lived all over this country coast to coast and have to say that the west coastal tribes are the worst. Flame on if you want but that has been my experience. So, put forth your opinion without denigration and let's hear it.
A lot of people we have encountered in Iowa, Illinois and Tennessee have been very nice and helpful.
Those I encountered in North Carolina, Florida, Louisiana and Michigan were very nice as well however, I did not have long dealings with them, just brief encounters.
Good luck finding a place and I do hope you find what you seek.
In general (at least in my opinion), if you are having a hard time finding a place where nice people live (i.e. every where you live/have lived does NOT have nice people), the problem is probably not the other people.
Of all the places I've lived, I'd have to say my present home has very nice people, Lubbock Tex. The other place, where I grew up, also has very nice people, and that is southeastern Wis. In general, Wis. has pretty nice people.

Excellent point! Some people just don't get along with anyone, no matter where they live. And, some, if they meet one or two no so friendly people will claim that the entire region has grouchy people.
We're very nice here in England..... and we are very fond of Americans.
