Me and my girlfriend are pretty serious and we both life with our parents. We want to move to another state to start our lives. I am finishing paying off my debt and we plan to move by august of next year.

My question is, where is the best place for us to start?
-Most likely place to find a job
-cheapest cost of living
-Safe (I don't want her to get hurt)
-Good school for veterinary around
-Somewhere we will not be miserable.

Thanks guys! We were thinking Florida, but I'm not sure...

Somewhere you won't be miserable is determined by your guys's interests. What do you like to do?

There are nice aspects of Florida (I love Cuban food!), but it's not my cup of tea. The northern half is a little on the redneck side. Southeastern Florida is horribly expensive and materialistic. Southwest Florida is a nice play to be if your idea of a good time is listening to people reminisce about the Eisenhower administration.

Florida's job market is pretty abysmal, honestly if you are just looking for warm weather and lower cost of living I would look at other places in the South/Southeast such as North Carolina and Georgia. Texas and Louisiana will have a lot of jobs (especially if you work in oil & gas) and a relatively low cost of living plus they have a climate that is similar to Florida albeit with more extremes.

Perhaps an area like Nashville could work for you too.

I would start looking at vet schools - admission and tuition and wrap the wish list around it.

I believe that Florida's only veterinary school is at U of F in Gainesville.

This is correct.

This is the US News list of top Vet schools in the U.S.

Best Veterinary Medicine Programs | Top Veterinary Schools | US News Best Graduate Schools

Of the ones in warm, relatively low-cost areas, you might consider NC State (Raleigh), U of Georgia (Athens), Texas A&M (College Station), U of Florida (Gainseville), Auburn (Auburn AL), and Virginia Tech (Blacksburg).

Of course getting into any Vet school is extremely competitive, so I hope the girl has her act together.

Good luck.

"Safe (I don't want her to get hurt)"

Tennessee is off the radar.
