The state that votes more Republican is probably the more Southern State.

Outside of STL and KC, Missouri is pretty Red. Outside of DC and Bmore, Maryland is pretty Red.

In fact, the most prominent White ethnicity of Maryland, the German Americans, are the most Republican. The more German a county is, the more Red.

Only problem with that is that in almost every state the rural areas tend to vote more red than blue. Most of the time it's urban versus rural that makes the difference moreso than northern versus southern.

People in Missouri, especially black people have really thick southern accents I mean c'mon. They pronounce here/hear as "hurr".

The black St. Louis accent is much more nuanced than most people think and weighs heavily on socioeconomic background.

Exaggerating. The influence is there but it's not thick at all. Also, everyone in the South doesn't pronounce hear as "hurr". Is there not a similar emphasis on the "r" in the DC area as well?

DC and MD is a bit weird. It depends a lot on where in the DC area you grew up in and socioeconomic background. Nobody says "hurr" and "thurr" like they do down south and out in St. Louis but the "r" is stretched in words like Maryland = Murland, Derrick = Durrick, but again not every black person does this, it's actually fading away especially in the younger generation. NoVa completely lacks the DC accent, everyone that's from NoVa has a general American accent or southern lite. While there are some southern naunces in the DC accent there is clear northeast influence too.

In my opinion black people in the Midwest in general sound way more southern than black people in DC or MD, overall.

The reason that Maryland is such a democratic state is because it has such a large African American population percentage-wise. The more white-majority regions of the state vote republican. That is what makes MD different from the Northeastern states, which have large blue collar, white democratic voting blocks that MD lacks.

That's part of the reason but Maryland also has lots of liberal Whites in the DC and Baltimore suburbs. Montgomery, Howard, and Baltimore counties have non-Hispanic White majorities/pluralities and are blue counties.

Maryland only has two completely rural counties as well, completely different than Missouri which has many. This fact does impact how conservative Missouri is compared to Maryland. If St. Louis and KC were omitted from Missouri it would be quite similar to most of Kentucky or any other portion of the upper South.
