I pronounced this, Dal-on-AYGA, GA (Da-LON-iga is correct, I think.)

Many people, including the Mayor pronounce the city "Inna-napolis".

A native pronounced this Battin Rudge, Lews-a-anna.
Kinda like Ed Rendell, Governor of PA who pronounces it Pennsa-vania.

I absolutely hate when people do that to Miami and Missouri. There is no ah at the end of these places.

On a visit to Massachusetts many years ago, I was trying to get to the town of Peabody. I stopped and asked, How do I get to PEE-body? Someone told me that there's no such place, but PEE-buh-DEE was just up the road about 2 miles.

Here's a tough one that I still don't know: Nachitoches (Louisiana). Is is nash-tush?

I hear everyone in Lansing, including news stations ( I think) do not pronounce Detroit as Datroit. I think Deetroit is improper spelling, the correct way to pronounce the city is Ditroit ( spelling of Deetroit sounds similar). I am sure I prounce it as Ditroit, and everyone else I know.
Wikipedia

(And no my parents are from the midwest, however both has spent most of their life in Michigan)

Time to set people straight, give your best phonetic spelling of the RIGHT way to say your city or state name.

I'll start, tourists say "Hah na lu lu", it's "HO-NO lulu". (Honolulu Hi.)

READING PENNSYLVANIA

pronounced like Redding.

We stopped off in Nachitoches on a road trip a few years ago and were told it was pronounced Nacka-tish. Maybe they were just kidding with us... who knows.
