i know women who are interested in geography. it isn't that.
i think this forum is male dominated because it is mostly men that are this pedantic, and willing to argue endlessly over a single topic. this isn't really a "geography forum," things here follow a very particular format.
Are you suggesting women don't like to argue? I think a large number of men would like to disagree with you there .
I am too lazy to look it up but there was thread in city vs. city a while ago that asked people their gender which turned out to be male by an overwhelming majority.
I am sure this forum has more females, though I'm not sure by how much.

What percentage of CD posters actually fill out their personal profile? I wouldn't think a whole lot, but I don't know.
I would bet that female posters here think other posters are female, and male posters here think other posters are male. I know I mostly think I'm talking with women, and am surprised when someone "comes out" as male or when someone refers to me as "he/him/his".
When it comes to geography, there are so many sub specialities it would be hard to say that one gender dominates another gender. In academia, I would posit that more males study physical geography and other sub specialites which have an emphasis on statistics, while more females study environmental and cultural geography which have more emphasis on human behavior.
I would bet the Association of American Geographers has some statistics on this. I'm too lazy to look it up, but OP - ball's in your court!

'Cause women don't need to worry their pretty little heads about such things?
Honestly, some of the sexism in here ...
The assumption whether posters are male or female is often an error. Ask me about it (especially as I didn't indicate either male or female on my "profile")
Well your name kinda gives it away, a female poster probably wouldn't use a male name as a tag. And many of the posters here are familiar, and I know they're male from what they've said. I mean it's clearly obvious this forum is at least 3/4's male.
