Atlanta is a cool place too but there is a lot of crime here. Definitely want to stay in the right area. Tampa and Nashville have very little crime.

While if I had to choose it would be Nashville, Atlanta, or Charlotte. Buffalo only if you were planing on seeing Niagara falls and going over to Toronto most of the time. I would stay away from Florida due to the humidity in the summers. Also Phoenix will just be too hot, great in the winter time but not the best place in the summer. Might aswell just go to Vegas in my opinion, you would have more fun.

What the? What's the criteria, to visit the most boring city? Nashville is the only one with anything worth seeing.

Tampa Bay has some beautiful water front scenery!

It also has a cool southern European vibe in many parts of the city as it was one of very few cities in the South that attracted Cuban, Spanish, and Italian immigrants in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Between Ybor, St. Pete beaches, and the scenery from bayshore to downtown I am sure the OP could find entertainment for a few days.
