According to this, they use the autocomplete feature of Google to determine stereotypes of these states. The method they used to determine this seems simple when tested out. For example, I would type in "Why is Florida so" and I would get these completed results: "Why is Florida so hot", "Why is Florida so warm", "Why is Florida so hot this winter" and "Why is Florida so crazy". Then out of those results, they pick the one that gave the most results, which in Florida's case was "Why is Florida so hot". Therefore, Florida is considered to be known as that one state which is hot. So do you agree with these state stereotypes?
I would've guessed that Florida would have been "Why is Florida so crazy?" Surprised that Alabama's word was "good." And I never knew Louisiana and Tennessee were that racist. Alaska being "expensive" surprised me. And what's with Connecticut and Pennsylvania being "haunted?" Is that about a lot of scary movies that are based there?
Yes. They encapsulate everything there is to know about each and every one of the 50 U.S. states.
I'm not sure what kind of answer you're looking for.....It seems like Google is filling in answers to questions that apparently some idiots ask. Like, "why is Florida so hot?"???? Because it's closer to the equator and surrounded by 90-degree ocean water. Who cares? And who is actually asking that question? For a truer stereotype, I'd think it would be better to actually do something totally zaney and crazy, and conduct an actual survey! Possibly even human-to-human interaction!!
