I am researching a place to relocate to in 2 months. Background info about me - I'm a 25 year old single female working in tech. I will be working remotely for my employer whilst I relocate but will need to find a new job once in the States. My job aside, I like going out once every two weeks or so (going out=coming back after 3am), after work during the week I like to meet up with friends over dinner or a beer. Here is my criteria list:
1. Weather - summer/spring throughout the entire year
2. Job market - good opportunities in tech (product management, search engine marketing)
3. Affordable housing considering the salary from the previous point
4. Food - lots of options to eat out, especially vegan places
5. Caffes - cool places where one can get work done over the weekend
6. Shopping
7. Walkability - it would be nice to have points 4-6 nearby or not too far away if driving (obviously not all of them)
8. Parks
9. People - 420 friendly, laid back
10. Art scene - I paint so it would be nice to have like minded people around and also sign up to classes
So far I'm thinking about Austin and LA. I've been to LA and like it, however I'm not a very good driver because I've never needed a car and am worried that might be a huge problem. Austin I haven't been to but have read only good things. The Bay Area is not an option because I find it shockingly expensive. What are your thoughts on all of this, any advice?
