Meth and heroin are very common in rural northwoods areas for some reason - MN/N WI/UP MI woods, Pacific Northwest, etc.

Not all of us can live in "heaven-on-Earth" Phoenix, can we?

One of the articles I've read about heroin in teh North is that the heroin is incredibly pure, the purest form yet to hit the broader market. That, and they've created more snortable and smokable forms, which makes end-users more apt to try it since slamming it up a vein is so tabboo, even for an addict.

Heroin in a huge problem in northern New Mexico (despite the meth myth of Breaking Bad). Is that far enough north for you?

LOL,

Heroin is to the northeast what meth and crack is to the rest of the country.

Has it been a problem on reservation land?

The heroin problem is bad in Massachusetts. It's even spreading into suburban high schools, not good. Heroin is most abudant in the "dead mill towns" like Fall River, New Bedford, and Lowell. Taunton had 60 overdoses in January alone. It's a dangerous epidemic that isn't really being covered by the media around here.
