You're definitely right, there are some big differences (visiting Acadia in the Fall is the best time). The rocks look quite a bit different, and Maine's coast is a seemingly never ending series of bays and inlets (the Pacific Coast is much less jagged in that sense) which gives it a different appearance too. But you pretty much got my point that it won't be quite so foreign to someone familiar with the Pacific coast. It's definitely a beautiful park (they all are), and it's definitely worth a trip to see (along with all of the small towns along the Maine coast).
