I can't beleive anyone considers those places in Idaho and Montana part of the Pacific NW. I lived in Eugene for 4 years and I don't consider anything east of Bend of Yakima to be part of the Pacific NW.
I mean, Kalispell? Its 10 hours to the ocean.
It's called 'Pacific Northwest' to differentiate itself from the old northwest, aka where Chicago and Northwestern Univ. is.
The Pacific Northwest is the old Oregon territory, which includes Western Montana and Idaho. Pocatello, Idaho is the gateway to the Pacific Northwest.
Living in the dumbest city in the PNW for 4 years doesn't make you smart.
When you're from NYC everything outside of NYC is boring lol, but the Northwest just doesn't appeal to me.
Funny how in this silly city-data forum that the people hiding behind screen names and say they are from NYC are among the most naive, close minded, and judgemental people who participate here.
Between Bellingham, Olympia, and Eugene, which would you all say best meets my description? Any other comments on these towns?
Eugene is the least expensive, followed by Olympia.
Bellingham is the least busy, followed by Olympia.
All are close to/in nature, but Bellingham and Olympia might edge Eugene out as far as beauty goes. Bellingham wins here IMO.
They're all college towns, and all have their positive points. Bellingham is pretty close to Vancouver, Olympia is pretty close to Seattle, and Eugene is becoming its own almost mid-sized city in its own right.
I would do research/read about all of them. I think you'd be pleasantly surprised.
