I looked at the link and noticed that the Mountain West did the best as a whole for being "free" region-wise, unless we are counting the Dakotas as their own region... But both of the Dakotas don't do as well in personal freedom, but are very business-friendly. To me, that is not very "free", even though both are considered #1 and #2.

To answer this question I did a personalized one for me and the top five are:

1. Nevada
2. Alaska
3. Maine
4. Arizona
5. Vermont
(how did I get Maine and Vermont before New Hampshire? That was shocking )

I agree that Nevada is number one right now, or maybe New Hampshire.
