I'm a single 28 year old lesbian looking to move to the Northeast from the West Coast to be closer to family. What are some towns in the Northeast and Midatlantic that have a high lesbian population? Are there any resources I can use? Please help!

The Obvious Answer
Northampton, MA. It's the lesbian epicenter of the universe. Move there -- now!

Other Great Choices
Burlington, VT
Ithaca, NY
New Paltz, NY
Portland, ME

Maybe
New Haven, CT (a little run down)
Lancaster, PA (a little conservative)
Rehoboth Beach, DE (more gay than lez)

Bear in mind that many of the options given above are for LGBT-friendly cities with only a couple options providing a stronger presence of Lesbians as most tend very heavily toward Gay men in terms of social offerings and community visibility. Also take into consideration some options (Northampton most notably) involve a large Lesbian population that's predominately partnered, which is not the best of situations if you're single. Another important consideration is job availability probably as well as overall affordability. Though perhaps stretching your geography a bit in terms of Mid-Atlantic region, you might check out Durham NC which has a very vibrant and diverse Lesbian population as well as a decent job market and overall affordability.

OP, a couple of questions. What do you consider to be small and what kind of work would you be looking for?

Also, does the state the town is in play a part in this?

New Hope PA/Lambertville NJ (right across from one another)

Pretty easy access to NYC and Philly and beautiful countryside with a cosmopolitan feel

Portland, Me is not a "gay epicenter " of Maine.
