If you're from the South...are confederate flags still considered "acceptable" around where you are from?
The reason I ask is that they seem to be acceptable in some areas but not others. They seem considerably more prominent in South-Central Appalachia than the deeper south based on my travels but i've obviously not been EVERYwhere in the deep south.
So...If you're from the south...are they pretty visible where you are and if they are...do people have a quarrell with them or no?
I have no idea what natives think they represent, since I am not from here (Atlanta), but there are multiple large confederate flags flown in my suburb on busy streets, as well as the rural areas.
Those who fly the flag are stereotyped, in my opinion.
Flying the confederate flag is not bad. It is celebrating when people stood up for themselves and fought against a bigger government. Slavery is not the reason the seceded. But because I'm saying this now I'm probably gonna be called a racist.
I've seen them on pickup trucks in Minnesota... its seen as a "redneck symbol" up there.
i'm sort of "redneck" but i don't see anything attractive enough about the confederate flag, it represents a failed country that didn't even survive a decade. the USA flag is more attractive in my opinion.

Exactly, many people that display them do it as a symbol of a particular lifestyle, big trucks, hunting, tobacco chewing, country music, etc.
Of course I get that some people are too dense and hung up on preconceived notions to understand that.
Once you're out of NoVA you see them a bit more which isn't surprising, Virginia (Richmond suburbs) still has a lot of parts that are backwards and country.
20+ years ago I would've agreed with you. But since the counties around Richmond have grown economically its very rare to see the flag within 40 miles of Richmond. It's rare to even see it as a small bumper sticker.
I rarely saw them growing up in Texas. Never seen one in NOVA.
