I think this is a term that some people in Britain use when they think there is too much Americanization of their country, but this would never actually happen.
A total reversal of history! The US and the UK share many cultural and historical ties so will always be close allies, but I doubt the UK will ever join the US. Besides, the UK might not be around as a political entity much longer. Scotland will hold a referendum on whether to leave the union later this year. If the Scots decide to separate, then Northern Ireland will surely follow shortly afterwards and reunite with the Republic of Ireland, leaving England and Wales to be all alone.
Somebody please consolidate all these 51st State threads, and list all the candidates for 51st State, so we can then all just choose one and have it done with.
THese types of threads only reinforce the idea that America seeks world domination. I wish these would stop showing up on CD. Not long ago one showed up on the Canadian forum about the US annexing Canada. I dont think anyone in these countries (very close allies) find them entertaining, and they make us look like the ambitious warmongers our enemies claim that we are. Every one of these threads damages our reputation as a nation.
I wouldn't approve but i would with USA annexing the Maritimes (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island), the Southern halfs of Ontario+British Columbia and the Baja California peninsula.
Ha! No way. With the immense history of GB, the well established and powerful government, and the cultural differences, it would would never happen. The Brits wouldn't even adopt the Euro, what makes you think they'd be adopt an entirely new country and government?
