These days it seems harder and harder to make a living being a "crafts person". Is there anywhere it there where these careers are still flourishing? I am a baker looking for the right place to move. I am looking for a community of like minded folks, making an honest living, and quite literally...making things. Are you out there?
I think there are plenty of places when it comes to quality baking. You have a lot of options.
I'm a cook but I love bread and really respect and admire bakers. I see NC in your name, so I assume you're from here, but I think Farm & Sparrow out in Candler is doing some of the coolest things nationwide. I would love to work there!
Asheville/Western NC is definitely a hub. There are a lot of good spots in Raleigh-Durham too (Guglhupf, Loaf, Scratch, and La Farm bakery to name a few).
