For everything thats considered cool, cutting edge, current, or forward thinking these days to people in their 20's theres only one city on that list that sums that up and it has a tv show named after it that pokes fun/celebrates that fact.

For most of the twenty somethings I know, I am pretty sure that Portland would be near the bottom of their list of cool places to live.

Portland is still to suburban-ish to appeal to many 20-somethings who want density and to be car-free. I don't know many people from the East Coast who go out West for Portland (its usually for LA or SanFran).
