I am trying to figure out where I wanna start the next chapter of my life.
About me:
- I'm 22 years old, petite, female, single and bisexual
- I do not own a car, and I live alone
- I am a student, and do not intend on working till I am done with school
- I do not do well in cold or gloomy conditions
- my goal for monthly rent, not including deposits and utilities, is around $1000
- I am interested in healing, the arts, alternative scenes, activism/ social justice
- I feel extremely uncomfortable around intolerance and hate crimes

It is a goal of mine:
That I find somewhere that doesn't have harsh cold or gloomy weather
That I am able to feel safe getting around with out a car, by myself
That I will have things to do with in walking or busing distance
That there is either a massage school or community college that I can get to sans car
Also it is important that I have access to grocery stores and doctors

The over all goal of mine in finding a place is the ability to feel comfortable and satisfied in my environment. A safe space.

Does anyone have any recommendations, for where I might look to meet these needs? I am going to either live in a studio, or with roommates. I have a small dog that I like to take everywhere. He will be certified as an emotional support animal, this week. This means pet policies in housing are not an issue. Please be kind. Thank you.

To me your post has college town written all over it. Now my only experience living in one was Gainesville, FL, and I'd say it fits fairly well although getting around via bus only isn't terribly convenient. But it's doable. If you were willing to hop on a bike then I'd say it becomes much much easier.

That said, I'd imagine there are other college towns that are even better.

I'd have to say a college town would definitely be one of my top choices. I'm not sure if they tend to have massage/ healing arts schools nearby.
