I know there are lot of these posts but I had to ask!

If you can move anywhere in the u.s, what city and state would you choose?!

We recently temperarely moved to Long Island ny for 6 months and after being here for a few weeks, I know it's not where I want to settle down with my family. I have always had my heart set on New England but have recently heard that it is becoming like New York. I know the winters are bad and I can handle that. I prefer a real and nice fall season and I'll deal with winter instead of having summer all year.

I recently have begun looking into montana, Wyoming and Idaho as possible choices as well. I want my boys to be able to be boys, get dirty, go and explore their environment and just have fun. I do need some sort of shopping and entertainment not too far from where we will be living tho.

So where would you choose?

If you like New England, I think you would like the parts of the region outside of the I-95 corridor or even certain communities in Upstate NY or PA.

These choices seem incongruous to me, given that your first choice was originally New England.

Me too, but I have to ask - did you even read anything beyond the title before posting this?

If you're looking into Idaho, Coeur d'Alene in North Idaho is very nice. Beautiful alpine lake, nearby skiing, lots of outdoor activities.

Economically, things up there are either very good or very bad. So, not sure what your job situation is, but that will be a consideration in any of the states you mentioned. The winters are long and hard but summers are gorgeous.

The Virgin Islands. Or the Oregon Coast. Two utterly different locales that, for some reason, resonate within me in the same way.
