Why do people falsely insist the West Coast is humidity-free?

Palm Springs is surprisingly muggy. Like, as bad as Cleveland, but much hotter obviously. I'm not sure if the dewpoints come during the day or night though which does make a difference.
Depends on what you consider humid. A lot of people in Seattle claim it's "humid" here in the summer, I usually roll my eyes because I've lived in the South and, while it may be somewhat humid, it's nothing like it is down south or back east.
Also, San Francisco is actually considered to be a "cool, humid" climate. Personally, that's my favourite kind of climate, and I hate heat, especially humid heat.
