Maryland -
+Mostly suburban sprawl
+DC and its suburbs comprise the only significant metro in the state
+Everyone works for the government
+Baltimore is one big ghetto
Well, there is a bit of truth to every stereotype. The federal government is DC's largest built-in industry. Out here in Columbia, every other car has a Department of Defense employee parking sticker in the corner of their front windshield. I disagree with the DC metro area being the only significant metro in the state. As for Baltimore being one big ghetto, there is a dumbed down bit of truth to that. As soon as you drive into Baltimore you start seeing boarded-up abandominiums, blue flashing police lights high on top of street signs and people loitering everywhere. Yes, Baltimore has some nice and affluent neighborhoods tucked away. Roland Park, Guilford etc. Many areas in Baltimore are not nearly as bad as they once were (i.e. the area around John's Hopkins). Also many Baltimore neighborhoods that appear to be ghetto and forbidding are actually rather quiet and working class without much in the way of real crime.
-Everyone is fake.
-Everyone is superficial.
-Everyone is rich.
-There is nothing but beaches and hot weather in the entire state.
California:
L.A.
- Half of the city is rich bleached blonde women with surgically enhanced bodies
- Everybody is an actor, actress, movie director or aspires to be one of the three
- The rest of the city is a deceivingly middle class murderous hellhole somehow worse than anywhere in America filled with 40 drinking, lowrider driving gang banging Cholos, Bloods and Crips who wear flannel shirts, Chucks, Nike Cortez and knee high socks with Dickies shorts
- There is a huge racial war between black people and Mexicans in L.A.
- You will get shot for wearing red or blue anywhere in L.A.
- Just driving through Compton or South L.A. is a death sentence, especially if you are white
- South L.A. is just as bad as it was in 1991 (Thank you Kendrick Lamar and Y.G.)
- Every last black person living in South L.A. or Compton is a gang banger, there are no regular people living there
San Francisco:
- The whole city is "nice" and everyone there is rich or at least upper middle class
- There are no "real" ghettos or high crime areas in SF, thats all in Oakland
- "Bad" areas of SF could never compare to anywhere in Oakland or any "real" ghetto in America that we only know about from watching TV.
- Everyone is a stereotypical flamingly homosexual white man in his 30's
- Gay people far outnumber straight people in every city neighborhood
- Everyone is Asian and all the Asians there are stereotypically fobby and inoffensive
- There are more homeless people than any other city in America
- Any real crime that happens in SF is caused by scary minorities from big bad Oakland
- Everyone in SF is an egotistical delusional d-bag who thinks SF is the best city in the world
- Everyone a douchey super liberal who touts their "progressiveness" by driving a Prius, sticking to a vegan diet, not smoking tobacco and only smoking weed etc.
- SF is exceptionally diverse, accepting and tolerant of all people
- All of SF is wholesome and family oriented like a wealthy outer ring commuter suburb filled with friendly white families like the Tanners from Full House
- SF has really hot weather like everywhere else in California (really?)
Oakland:
- Every inch of the city is a third world slum populated by nothing but ultra violent gang banging big t-shirt wearing Latino youth and murderous dope peddling jobless black drug dealers
- There are no nice parts of Oakland
- Oakland ghettos are somehow magically "worse" than most other cities (how they are "worse" is never specified or clarified through real data)
- There are no white people in Oakland
- Oakland is not diverse, it is 95%+ black and Latino
- You will get shot just for being in Oakland
- Oakland and South Central L.A. share the same exact homogenous California gang culture of Bloods and Crips, lowriders, flannels, khakis and gang dances
- Oakland has the same perceived extreme racial tensions as L.A. in 1992
- Oakland and L.A. share some deep cultural connection of ghettoness that is even stronger than SF and Oakland because 2pac wholeheartedly repped both Oakland and Los Angeles. Like some super-skinny soft-spoken sensitive male ballerina from New York who went to a prestigious art school in Baltimore who didn't get in trouble with the law and become a raucous loud baldheaded tattooed chronically drunk self-proclaimed "thug" until he got a record deal and started acting in blockbuster movies really knows the hardest of California streets like the back of his hands, smh.
- Oakland is the only ghetto area in the Bay Area

Kentucky: That everyone is a hillbilly uneducated country bumpkin that like moonshine, lives in a trailer, does not have indoor plumbing and plays the banjo. Famous people from Kentucky: George Clooney, Johnny Depp, Jennifer Lawrence, Ashley Judd, Ali the greatest boxer ever. Kentucky like other states in the South like Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas are misunderstood and people just believe whatever Hollywood and movies and TV shows tells them.
State in general:
-the entire state is covered in dense, evergreen, coniferous rainforest
-everyone is a flaming, uber-liberal, weed-smoking, flannel-wearing hippie
-we're all stuck in some early 90's 'Grunge' phase, and worship at the altar of Kurt Cobain daily
-we're isolated from the rest of the country
-it rains constantly, and we only see the sun two weeks out of the year
Seattle:
-everyone is a wealthy, highly educated, uber-liberal tech millionaire
-everyone is a coffee addict
-junkies everywhere. You can't walk one block down the street without stepping on a bloody, used syringe
-everyone is a snob, and looks down on the rest of the country
-the "Seattle Freeze". Everyone is aloof, unfriendly, and cold
-everyone is a bearded, vegan, granola-munching hipster barista. Even the women

California is so populated and diverse its impossible to stereotype. Lot of Americans hate California because of Hollywood celeb culture and the liberal politics but I think California is one of the best if not the best states in the USA.
State in general:
-everyone is a cowboy, complete with ten gallon hat, Ostrich-skin cowboy boots, and giant lone star belt-buckle
-everyone is a secessionist, and is lobbying to make Texas an independent nation
-everyone is rich, or at least not poor
-everyone is friendly, welcoming, and says "howdy, y'all!". Nobody is rude
-the whole state is either desert or prairie
-it never gets cold in the winter
-the whole state is in tornado alley
-everyone is an uber-conservative, bible-thumping Christian
-everyone drives a giant pick-up truck and works in the oil industry
Houston:
-everyone speaks with a thick, syrupy Southern drawl
-the whole city is suburban and sprawling. No urban core. No row houses. Just big ranch-style spreads sitting on huge lots
-there's no public transit. The city is 100% car-dependent
-it's extremely dangerous and violent. Gangs will get you and your mom if you wear the wrong colors in public
-immigration is a new development in Houston. Before 1980 there were only Protestant Whites, Baptist Blacks, and Catholic Mexicans
-the entire economy revolves around and is dependent on Oil & Gas
-it's majority-conservative. There are no "true" liberals
-everyone is fat, out of shape, and eats nothing but fast food, BBQ, and Tex-Mex
-there are no pretty neighborhoods. The whole city is flat, ugly, dirty, and covered in oil refineries
Dallas:
-the women all have big hair and fake boobs. The men all look like J.R. Ewing, and wear business suits with a cowboy hat and boots
-everyone speaks with a Texas twang
-there's no greenery. The whole city is brown and dusty
-everyone is a rich Republican and there are no liberals (same stereotype Houston gets)
-everyone is still hung up on the JFK assassination
-the whole city is flat as a pancake
-everyone looks down on the rest of Texas. Everyone is a snob
-everyone is fake, shallow, and trendy
-there are no ghettoes
-heavily segregated. All White on the North side, all Black on the South side
-there aren't any good restaurants
Austin:
-everyone is an uber-liberal, 20 or 30-something hipster musician/songwriter
-the ONLY liberal city in Texas (I really get sick of hearing that one)
-the whole city is within the scenic Texas hill country (only the Western suburbs are)
-the best Mexican food in Texas
-more laid back and less uptight than other big Texas cities, and traffic isn't as bad as Houston or Dallas
-the city has been taken over by California transplants
-giant college town. Everything revolves around UT
-nobody speaks in a Texas accent
-affordable COL and lots of available housing
-there's no sprawl
-there's no crime
San Antonio:
-most boring city in Texas. Outside of the riverwalk, there's nothing to do
-dominated by the military
-has an inferiority complex, and secretly wishes it could be Austin
-the only good food is Tex-Mex. Has no other food options
-has a boring, ugly skyline
-has a sluggish economy and a slow growth rate
-uber-conservative
Fort Worth:
-just another suburb of Dallas. Or at least plays 2nd fiddle to Dallas. Has no identity of it's own
-giant cowtown.
-100% Republican stronghold
-has no culture or nightlife
-secretly wishes it could be Dallas
El Paso:
-overrun with Mexican drug cartels. Shoot outs are a daily occurrence. Headless bodies and bullet casings litter the streets
-might as well be in Mexico. No different from Juarez. Full of illegal immigrants
-a million miles away from everything (ok, there is a little truth to that)
-not "truly" Texan. Belongs in New Mexico

Of course, one of the other misconceptions about Denver is that it's actually in the mountains. You'd think people would research that before they move, but I can't tell you how many people I've run into that were surprised that it's flat and bordering the plains.
Case in point my wife called our insurance company to give a change of address within the city (Cap Hill) and the agent asked if we were in avalanche danger. She had a good laugh over that one....
