Ashland,Ky/Huntington,WV area. We would live in Ky but I like being close to a large city such as Huntington
Roanoke,Va area. Again would live OUTSIDE Roanoke in a smaller town and commute for work and shopping etc
Georgetown,Ky area near Lexington etc
Which is the best economically right now? Never been to Roanoke farthest ever been is Wytheville. From what I can read Ashland is in bad straights right now and things are shutting down, that sucks because its my favorite from what I saw when I went through that area...Never been to Georgetown either so depending on others opinions...at this point. Trying to stay within a 300 mile radius of Morgantown,WV its where we have family etc at. In my vehicle that's half a tank of gas there and half a tank back. So very doable. So any other suggestions in Va,Ohio,Kentucky we are more than open to suggestions. Good schools, lower cost of living and just nice scenery is a major plus. Has to be not economically depressed right now...hate seeing places that are just dead because of companies leaving or moving to different areas etc.
Check out Salem, VA which is just outside of Roanoke. It has a low unemployment rate of 4.6%, a thriving economy overall, very good public schools and a lower cost of living...not to mention it's a beautiful area.
If you don't mind staying WV, what about Eastern Panhandle communities like Martinsburg, Shepherdstown, Charles Town, Ranson and Harpers Ferry, among others? In NC WV, what about Clarksburg, Fairmont, Bridgeport or Weston?
