I can't front, I was once dismissive of the Midwest also, but it's strangely grown on me (at least many of the the cities). The rural places like Iowa still suck though.

But all the rural places in other states are awesome?

Vermont, Oregon, rural Washington, Downeast Maine, Adirondack mountains and finger lakes, Idaho, Montana, Horshoe Bend and Grand Canyon, Yellowstone. Much more beautiful and more recreational activities than Iowa, unless you have a sexual attraction to cornfields. South Dakota is a beautiful states though and that's in the Midwest.

Pretty yes, but most people wouldn't want to live there. Rural areas aren't the most happening places and great scenery doesn't change that (example: Appalachia).

There are many beautiful states in the Midwest, and as far as those other states, you're picking and choosing parts of them that are beautiful. Iowa is not all cornfields, and to suggest that, is ignorant.

I just have a love of mountains which hurts my allure to the Midwest, beauty is subjective. However I would say that some of the nicest people I've met have been from the Midwest and Chicago is one of America's best cities. I also find the Great Lakes coastline to be underrated, swimming in fresh water is a much better experience than swimming in the freezing cold water on the east coast.
