I did know there was a big lake there, though!
Apples are huge, 2nd in production behind WA. Also Cherries, Blueberries, Strawberries, Raspberries, grapes(growing wine industry) Pretty much every farm vegetable, hops, barley, soy, blah blah blah. Michigan is a big ag state.

Michigan is actually the number one state for blueberry production. We alternate with New York for 2nd place in apple production, depending on the year. The western part of the state along Lake Michigan is excellent for fruit production due to microclimates created by the lake.

South Haven markets itself as the blueberry capital.

Kevlar a type of super-strong plastic, and also an excellent source of fiber.

Even though they said Pineapple for Hawaii, the truth is, most of us who lived there just didn't eat a lot of pineapple. For me, the quintessential Hawaii fruit is something called Mountain Apple. It's a tiny crabapple-sized fruit that tastes like lilacs smell. Absolute ambrosia.

I worked in Maryland for a few years & can't say that I ever noticed any specific produce being pushed as local. The only food that you hear about is crabs!, crabs! crabs! . . .no worse than cheese for Wisconsin.
