Eastern Shore and Southern Maryland are Southern to me, the rest of Maryland is quite Northern, most particularly the Baltimore-Washington DC region. Western Maryland felt and looked fairly different...Like a mix of Appalachia and South Central Pennsylvania. I'm a born and raised Marylander and I'm one of the ones who identify culturally more with the Northeast.

At the end of the day, Maryland is arguably the quintessential Mid-Atlantic state (Delaware and New Jersey could make an argument in the quintessential sense).

I do find Virginia quite southern though, especially as you get away from Maryland and get out of the Washington DC suburbs. Others may disagree. What do you think? Is Maryland Northern or Southern? There will be no in between option. If you feel Maryland is even 51% one way, you must vote that way.

USA (Union) vs. CSA (Confederacy). In 1861 Maryland voted 54-14 to stay in the USA, voted for Lincoln in 1864 and voted to abolish slavery the same year. But 15,000 fought for the CSA while 70,000 fought for the USA:

Maryland and DC are Northern. They're part of the Northeast. Virginia is the most Northern Southern State.

DC and Maryland is with the North, I know that.
Nova is still the south, even tho a lot of people
who live there now come from all over.

Baltimore resembles a Northern rust belt city with all the urban decay, crime, unemployment and poverty which comes with that. On the other hand, Maryland was a slave state in the civil war so in the end it's still a Southern state.

You're aware that the world spins and things do change? If not, wouldn't I be able to apply the same logic in saying that you didn't know a lot in 2nd grade and therefore you don't know a lot now?

I consider Maryland a Mid Atlantic state, in terms of Southern states, Virginia is the uppermost Southern state.

So, what you are saying is that by now they have learned mistreating African Americans is wrong so they are entitled to call themselves a Northern state? Interesting thought, but it doesn't change what happened in the civil war. Maryland still belongs to the South.
