Where do people in your city go on road trips when they want to get away? I understand that many people will just fly, but I want to hear about what places you personally drive to. Let's break it up into three categories:

1. Day excursions?
2. Weekend/ overnighters?
3. Vacations?

I'll start off:
Denver
Day excursions: Anywhere in the Rocky Mountains within 2 hours drive of Denver. Rocky Mountain National Park, Indian Peaks Wilderness, Mt Evans, Grays & Torreys Peaks, Vail, Breckenridge, Pikes Peak.
Weekend/overnight trips: Same places as above, but expanded to include anywhere in Colorado, including Durango, Telluride, Aspen, anywhere on the west slope really, Moab UT (Arches, Canyonlands Nat'l Park, etc), Santa Fe NM.
Vacations: Yellowstone Nat'l Park, any Nat'l Park in Utah, Arizona, Las Vegas, Palm Springs, Lake Tahoe, LA, San Diego.

Phoenix
Day Excursions: Sedona, Flagstaff, Prescott, Tucson, anywhere in the Rim Country
Weekend/overnight trips: San Diego, LA, Rocky Point Mexico, Lake Havasu, Las Vegas, SW Colorado
Vacations: Same as the weekend/overnight places-- anywhere in CA or the southwest pretty much.

Northern New Jersey:

Day excursions: nearby portions of the Jersey Shore, NYC, Philadelphia, the Catskills, the Poconos, the New Jersey Highlands or the New Jersey Pinelands

Weekend/overnight trips: lower portions of the Jersey Shore, Delaware shore, Megalopolis cities (DC, Bmore, Boston, etc), Long Island (although I never go unless I have a week to kill in traffic), Adirondacks, Finger Lakes, Niagara Falls, Montreal, New England ski resorts or beaches

Vacations: Shore points along the entire East Coast, pastoral New England, Florida (though most fly there).
