Missouri is a southern state! I live here and we are all good southern people! My grandma makes the best grits and greens in the world!!!
Shut it already. Your part of Missouri and southeast Missouri is the south. The rest of the state is 50 percent Midwestern, 25 percent transition. You lost this argument a long time ago I don't get why you still persist. Kansas City St. Louis and Columbia aren't Southern. How many times do I have to beat you into the ground before you quit popping back up. Feels like I'm playing whack a mole.

They provide nothing cultural or linguistically to show Missouri is a Southern state they just blatantly say it. Religion is the only thing supporting Missouri being Southern although the state is heavily Catholic too. That's it. Culturally, linguistically, and in every other way demographically, as well as politically, Missouri behaves like a Lower Midwest state. I guess people on citydata don't like facts you included. 4.) Upper or "upland" South
5.) Gulf Coastal/Antibellum Lower or "deep" south
6.) Lower Central Plains
7.) Upper Central Plains
8.) South West & Desert South West border region
9.) Central Intermountain West
10.) Pacific & Central South West
11.) Pacific North West

Arizona has far more in common with regions 9 and 10 than it does with the eastern half of region 8. Arizona interacts a lot with 9 and 10 and very little with the eastern part of 8.

Missouri has a star on the battle flag. A SIGNIFICANT portion of Missouri speaks with southern dialect. Politically Missouri behaves like a southern state there is no denying that. Food wise Missouri is 100% southern. Maybe you need to look at the other side of things as well.

I think this is even better....but it's 11 sections, not 5 (but it's almost impossible to limit it to 5 "fair" sections, right Ball freak?).

Phoenix or Arizona altogether? If it's Phoenix I can see that, if you meant all of AZ I don't understand why....I thought that looked fairly accurate to my unbiased AZ eyes.

Phoenix definitely is more tied to SoCal and Southern Nevada. Northern Arizona is more tied to the mountain states. Tucson and Southern Arizona more tied to New Mexico and possibly El Paso but no other parts of Texas. No parts of Arizona are tied regionally or culturally to Central Texas.
