I am not a big fan of Iowa, mainly because it is not wooded enough for my liking and not enough lakes. Also, the wind there in the Winter due to all of the open fields is far worse than one might imagine. Des Moines is the economic bright spot for the state presently as it suffers from a brain drain throughout most of the rest of its counties.
I live in southeast Minnesota but make occasional visits to Northwood (Worth Brewing Company) and Decorah (Toppling Goliath Brewing). The people I've met have always been nice. I have nothing bad to say about Iowa.
Had some neighbors move from Iowa majoring in art and theatre. They moved because they said nothing was there. I ask my family in Illinois and Ohio about Iowa and they said nothing was there as well. Just corn fields.
