Hello, curious Northerner here. I see on YouTube a lot of videos about how the South will rise again, etc., and I wonder if this is a fairly typical mentality down in your neck of the woods. It seems that North and South are linked together like never before, and we are stronger together, so why would people want to pick at old wounds?

Is there still a real hatred for us in the North? And if so, are there states that are hated more than others?

I would say beyond the occasional joke or c-d thread there is no real thought given to secession or hatred of the north from most people down here. Every place has their fringe elements though.

On the contrary when we see videos of 100 car pile ups from white out conditions, minus elventyteen temps and house covering snow we wonder what kind of madness you guys suffer from to want to live up there.

Happy New Year.

No. We don't even think about it.

The sole exception is when someone moves here from Connecticut or some such place and begins to immediately ***** about the way we do things down here even before the moving van is unpacked. Yet they're coming here for opportunity that wasn't present in whatever place they left. Go figure.

Nobody cares about that stuff anymore but every part of the South is different. I love how everyone on City Data seems to stereotype the South, its impossible to describe the South to anybody who has not lived in the region because AL is way different from KY which is way different from FL and TX. Its impossible to describe the south because the South has a lot of sub regions the Deep South is different from the Upper South and the Appalachian region.

I can't even imagine what summer in the South will be like in 30 years from now, with global warming.

Some of us are hotboxes and actually like the cold, also skiing.
Ever done a polar bear plunge? It is exactly what you think it is, only some of us enjoy that too.

The old rebel flag waving, bigoted, anti-diversity, anti-change, anti-gay, always frowning, members of society will die off, eventually. Sorry for the bad news, but the South will not rise again, those days are long gone. We are stronger together. When people, especially ignorant people, fear the unknown, they immediately cling to the past in the form of anger, rebellion, and pure hatred for anyone that does not share their ideas.

Exactly I agree with you lol, You Tube is used by terrorists to recruit new members of ISIS, I wouldn't trust most anything I see on You Tube lol. You Tube can be a helpful site to watch videos if you know its for credible sources thou.
