Obviously southern Louisiana. Maybe even to some extent other spots throughout the Mississippi delta? Its so heavily African American, and Black churches are a little culturally different from other southern churches maybe?" Maybe I'm just going off the colorful, vibrant music and service. Forgive me if I stereotype.
It is true, but the general principles are the same. Despite voting democrat, Protestant blacks are still largely conservative.
There are some oddities in that list. it combines some cites that aren't in the same MSA or CSA.
The most glaring is how it combines Asheville, NC with Greenville & Spartanburg SC. I don't know how you can ever consider these to be the same area.
Similarly, it combines Fayetteville with Raleigh-Durham. The Triangle is all about higher ed., tech and biotech while Fayetteville is a military town.
Just FYI - the Upstate of SC, (most of) Western NC, and far NE GA share the same television market:
WYFF, NBC, Greenville, SC
WSPA, CBS, Spartanburg, SC
WLOS, ABC, Asheville, NC
WHNS, Fox, Greenville, SC
Local weather on each station is always divided between "Mountains" and "Upstate" (WSPA actually forecasts 5 zones that includes foothill locations and the lower Upstate [Greenwood, etc]).
To clarify even further, I live near downtown Greenville, SC and the drive time to Asheville is little over an hour. Additionally, I'm less than 45 minutes to elevations > 3,000 feet at the SC/NC line.
Of course, there are significant political differences between the Upstate and city of Asheville - but, outside the confines of Asheville (and other small exceptions, like the city of Brevard), the political landscape (in Western NC) is generally conservative.

Metro Atlanta. I tend to think of Atlanta as being a little less "Bible Belt" than Dallas or Houston, despite all three being large international southern cities. I think of metro Atlanta as having been more transformed by northerners.
I don't. I tend to see Atlanta like Dallas in this regard and Houston a little less so than the other two. Houston takes in the mold of the rest of the Gulf Coast to an extent. Houston is like an extension of Southern Louisiana in many ways and this is one of them.

This is my opinion to a T. Houston is a lot like big city Southern LA without the French influence.

Yes, but the Houston city itself isn't more liberal than Atlanta or Dallas, especially Atlanta. It's actually quite conservative. Houston was among the top cities for people to go see American Sniper which is indicative of a more traditionally conservative population.
Quote:
Red-state America has been lapping up American Sniper, with eight out of the 10 top markets for the film in the south or midwest, like San Antonio, Oklahoma City, Houston and Nashville

I've given supporting points, studies, and data. It's shocking a city as large as Houston scores so low on the Equality scale.
The data runs contrary to mine, and a lot of others' personal experience with the city, but ok. It doesn't do much to accurately gauge such things when Houston's city limits encompass over 600 square miles, and Atlanta's city limits encompass just over 130 square miles. As far as core-cities go, it's a different story.
However, this thread is about religion, not politics... though unfortunately the two are often intertwined.
Okc and Tulsa are definitely buckles if the bible belt and i don't see any holes coming soon
