Anybody here grew up in a predominantly African-American SMALL town in the south? (crime rate, colleges)

As an African American mail, I'd ideally like to raise a family in a small, religious, safe, predominantly black town in the south (hopefully these exist)
I can't help with specifics but you could start by looking at small towns with Predominately Black Colleges. The rural deep south thread has a map that could help with demographics.
Nope.......If this is serious, what else are you looking for in a town? Do they have to be in the South? Perhaps a places like Lexington MS would be a good fit.

The population requirement and location eliminates Lexington, which is about 70% Black. I would suggest my mother's hometown in SC, but the crime rate may eliminate it. You may find something in that general area(the Pee Dee Region of SC): Pee Dee - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I'm assuming a little over 50% and up, unless the OP is open to pluralistically more Black than any other group towns as well.
