Technically it went down a lot closer to Sault Ste. Marie... back in elementary school we used to go on field trips to White Fish Point, which is the closest bit of land to wear it sunk. The Valley Camp ship museum in Sault Ste. Marie, where I had my first ever job at age 15, has some of the Fitzgerald's lifeboats.
