At least it's a dry heat. It's still more tolerable than a humid summer in Houston or Atlanta.
Sir, believe me when you are out in the FULL desert SUN and 115 + degree heat that is common in Phoenix you cant imagine how hot that is. It really is an oven. It is like HELL on earth. Why do you think that they always epitamize people crawling around in the desert asking for water with their last dying breath? you never see that same scenario for a place that is humid.
What about Death Valley?? there is no place called HUMID death Valley. Its because the desert SCORCHING heat and full sun exposure is the worst weather that the world has to offer. It is death, in Phoenix you cant walk outside with no shoes on because the pavement will literally burn your feet.
People die every year in Arizona just from walking outside. I mean like 100+ people a year DIE from the heat. JUST FROM THE HEAT! because they dont have enough water (like a gallon an hour is required when outside).
^ The Great Lakes area doesn't even compare to the Southeast. There's humidity + heat in the Southeast. I remember going to Toronto in the summer and people were complaining that it was above 90 degrees. It was somewhat hot for maybe 2 days, then it was in the 60s & 70s and way too cold to be summer, at least summer that I'm used to.
But anyways, just from reading what people are saying, I'd go with Phoenix. I really can't imagine living there. Memphis summers are bad, but the humidity is more of a discomfort. At least I don't have to worry about getting scorched by the sun. People are always outside during the summers here, the winters on the other hand keep many people inside most of the time.

Most of the people who die from the heat in Arizona are the elderly or those who don't have air conditioning in their homes or decide to go 'hiking' and get too far up the hill and die from heat exhaustion. Plus your overdoing the whole water deal, I've been to Phoenix when it was 115+ outside, I drank maybe half a bottle and was fine.
when you count the heat index, which is the "feel like" temp. Like wind chill in winter. Orlando has some of the worst summers in the country. It can be 92 out with a heat index that makes it feel like 105. the only good thing about it is that because it's really only 92 there isn't much issues with people dying of heat stroke, plus everyone here is used to it, and knows how to deal with it, and every building here has AC.
Ft. Myers, and Orlando, are worse than Miami. Even though they are all HOT and VERY HUMID, at least Miami gets Ocean Breezes. Orlando doesn't, and Ft. Myers being on the Gulf doesn't have those breezes either.
