I did not know that. The tater tots were 1st introduced to me from way back in elementary school (Upstate NY/early 1970's). The cafeteria had these as a side dish to, I believe, the days they served fish on Fridays.
I've always liked the tater tots. I've seen in recent years that you can get different varieties - ie, [previously mentioned] sweet potato. Is there a garlic version too? I prefer mine baked in the oven though. They remind me of the fried hash brown oval shaped patties that you get from McDonald's, only rounded like a odd shaped ball.
Have not heard of the tater casserole until I read some of the entries in this forum thread.
