Go to page 2. There is one person from eight years ago who listed New York City, Wisconsin Dells, Minneapolis, Anchorage, Fairbanks, Chicago, Barrow, International Falls, Detroit as southern cities. Which none of them is true.
Fair enough that some other clueless individual would do such a thing. But why do you go off on such a fool's errand (no personal disrespect intended, BTW)?
While certain allowances might be made for some areas in Maryland, the notion that ANY part of New Jersey -- even stretching the definition of "Southern" to the total "Outer Limits" -- is simply...crazy. Good lord...

Haven't you heard? The only requirements for a state to be considered southern are to lean conservative and have less-than-brutal winters. [/sarcasm]

Really? Arizona and New Mexico are Southern cities?
Really? Arizona and New Mexico are Southern cities?
I was saying that because both Arizona and New Mexico are boring and both are almost all brown desert and have no water. I decided to include whole states too. Yes, AZ and NM are Southern States geographically.

Yes, geographically AZ and NM are in the southern tier of the country. But they have nothing to do at all with "the South" as commonly understood in terms of history, culture, etc. Your best bet is to consider "Sunbelt" as the only connection, if one wants to include them in a region which is completely different from the interior southwest, which is "southern" only in the sense it is the southern West:
