I like cities that have a lot do, particularly in regards to the arts, but have a no b.s., down-to-earth attitude:
Minneapolis
Louisville
Buffalo
Pittsburgh
Milwaukee

Favorite cities for a weekend trip (gorge myself on great food, listen to great music, see some cool exhibits), but I wouldn't want to live:
Chicago
San Francisco
Los Angeles
Philadelphia
New York

NYC, SF, DC, Chicago, and I can't think of a 5th one so I'll just go with Atlanta for now.

Favorites, no particular order among larger cities:
- Oakland
- Los Angeles
- Nashville
- Ventura County
- New York: Very "intense," yet uniquely fascinating
- Long Beach, CA (honorable mention)
- Chicago (honorable mention)

Favorites, no particular order among smaller cities/areas:
- Key West, FL
- Sonoma County, CA
- Mendocino County, CA
- Half Moon Bay, CA
- Western Coal Field region, KY: Feels like, and really kinda is, home
- Baldwin County, AL (honorable mention)
- Great Smoky Mountains region, TN/NC (honorable mention)

Least favorites, in no particular order, just because I feel like it :
- San Francisco: Beautiful city, with an incredibly arrogant populace!
- San Diego: Even though I'm moving there for a job... $$ talks!
- Louisville, KY: Surprisingly unfriendly
- Dayton, OH
- Sacramento
- Atlanta (honorable mention)
