I just want to make sure I fully understand this thread. So you are looking for a city to relocate to solely based on a professional sports team? Not a job, schools, location???
We are returning home from Krazy France (save that for another topic), we have two things that matter to us, one of them is the kids, the main one and they want to play football, we can find a way to work even if we live out of a RV bus
Austin Westlake and lake Travis have won multiple state championships over the past decade. Austin area has a lot of talent as well. Lake Travis is a current powerhouse.
And Atlanta still per capita and by quantity is more talented then Austin.
However, when looking at it historically most of Oklahoma's national championship teams consisted of Okies, especially in key positions.
For instance, of our five Heisman winners four are from the state of Oklahoma: (in reverse order) Sam Bradford (OKC), Jason White (Tuttle) , Steve Owens (Miami, pronounced "My-am-uh"), & Billy Vessels (Cleveland, Oklahoma).
Billy Sims is our lone Heisman winner from Tejas. Ironically, he like it so much he stayed here and opened up several BBQ establishments. On the radio & TV commercials he likes to say, "It's not BBQ, it's BoomerQ!"
Edit: (Picture of Heisman Row outside of OU's Stadium)
It's not really true even today. Texans would like to THINK it is true but for the most part even today OU's best players are home grown.
in the Stoops era, OU has had 17 consensus All Americans. 10 Oklahomans, 4 Texans and 3 from other states.
OU has a lot of starters from Texas and a lot of team members but in general OU isn't getting the best players from Texas, and really never has with some exceptions.
Finally, Billy Sims is actually from St. Louis. He moved to Texas after 8th grade. He was put off when Darrell Royal recruited him with the "Texas boys ought to go to Texas schools" pitch, because he considered himself a Missourian.
For the last 6 straight years Louisiana had the highest number of NFL players per capita wise. For at least the last 50 years, of the top 10 states in number of NFL players volume wise, Louisiana has the highest number of NFL players per capita wise. If it was among the top 10 volume wise during the period, Mississippi would have that distinction.
I know since Texas a&m joined the sec they have been pulling in a lot of talent from Louisiana. Speedy noil is a perfect example.
