Please don't try and imply that because I am not an atheist, socialist, class warrior who despises tradition that I am not empathetic.
I hear you.

Also, not all Liberals are Atheist, Class Warriors or Socialist.

What the person is implying is that only liberals have empathy and conservatives are cold and heartless people who revel in others misery...because they believe in self reliance and don't understand why progression for the sake of simply forsaking tradition with no tangible benefit other than sticking it to the man is necessary.

The kid that shares their lunch with say the ostracized effeminate little boy is more likely to be Liberal than the kid who gets pissed at the Autistic kid because he keeps messing up (not understanding that the kid has an illness). Obviously that's not always the case but it's a pretty good indicator.

This is also assuming that each child in the scenario did NOT have any familial or pre-academic contact with the others.

Um no. That has no correlation whatsoever dude. You can turn around and say conservative kids are more likely to be religious and thus would feel an obligation to help the autistic kid. When I was in school the kids who raised money for breast cancer and volunteered with kids in the burn ward were the "league of Christian athletes".

Stop twisting it to make it seem like you're suoerior because you're a liberal.

I'm not Liberal, so there's that.

You do realize that a good portion of Liberals are religious though, right?

Christian Liberals exist and Conservative Atheist exist. The other poster was talking about empathy. You're trying to imply that Conservatives have more (or equal) empathy for the disadvantaged than Liberals and that just isn't true.

Liberals can be misguided, as well; so it's not a bashfest.

I think I could watch a kindergarten for a few says, and predict with considerable accuracy which children will grow up to be liberals, and which will be conservatives.
I think it's close to the inverse, actually. Many studies have shown conservatives feel many negative emotions (like fear and disgust) more strongly than liberals. The difference is so clear that you can predict who will be a conservative as an adult by how fearful they are as a child.

Conservatives have just as much empathy as liberals though, more generally. It's just they tend to be more tribal thinking - they don't extend this empathy to everyone by default.

The latter half of that is my point. In a global Human community (which we live in), being a tribalist is akin to being selfish and thus not being empathetic.

This is not the topic of the thread. I don't know how it went from me being concerned about propaganda in CA schools to you bashing conservatives.

Understandable

understandable.

I would just like to point out that it is extremely stupid to pigeon hole stereotype people in general. Especially whole cities and states.. I am pretty sure liberals and conservatives both bring valid ideas to the table and its all about finding that happy balance that drives the country in the right direction. Being one extreme or the other does not.

Already did with Kentucky. I'd never do it again even though I left Kentucky feeling more confident in myself than I have ever felt before.
