So now I have 3 phone interviews scheduled for next week with Cbus companies. Can you believe it??
However, this morning, I had a phone call with one of the companys' HR recruiters and she asked me why I was interested in Cbus, and I told her it's because I'm looking to relocate to a better cost of living area with more career opportunities. I also mentioned that I have friends in the area (even though they're really in Cleveland). She then told me that when I have the real interview with the actual hiring manager, that I should mention that I have friends in the area and that my interest in Cbus is not just a shot in the dark.
But I feel like I lied now, because my friends are actually in Cleveland/Akron. I don't have any friends in Cbus. But I mean...I could just make new friends, right?! Why the heck is this a requirement to take a job, even though I'm qualified?!
What should I do?!
She just gave you a tip that would help increase your odds of being hired. Take it for what it is and keep working towards your goal.

I cannot believe this is happening. I thought I had to move FIRST, then get a job. But maybe it will actually work out this way, which is more preferable. Omg.
If Cbus ends up being a place that I can't stand, it's the fault of people on these forums who have recommended it to me continuously throughout the past few years. But hopefully they are right. We shall see!

I hope it works out for you. But I have to admit, I took a look at your thread on the Columbus section and some of your questions concerned me. But if you get one of those jobs and even love 70 percent of the things about that city, then go for it and don't look back.

What do you mean my questions in the Columbus forum concerned you? Why? Two people nicely answered my questions and I was pleased with 100% of the answers they gave.

Sorry, nep...I'm not trying to give you a hard time for the sake of it like some other people on here. The people in that thread did give you good answers. I was just referring to you asking questions about things such as plants, accents, and such. In the past, you became overly picky with similar things in your prospective cities and I think this is partly what led to you not having found your new home yet. So I was just slightly concerned that Columbus could lead to the same thing. I'm just trying to help you out, so I hope you don't take my comments/questions as being negative.
By the way, I have no room to talk! After living in another state and another country the past 3 years, I finally found my dream city in Orlando. So it did take me a bit. And hey, I have also started a thread in the Columbus forum at one point, one you may find entertaining.

I am sure that if I do end up deciding to relocate to Columbus, it will be a very emotional day for me, to leave CT -- all my family, memories and everything I know, behind. I will have to learn to embrace it. But I had enormous trouble embracing living in Fairfield County, CT, which is only two counties away from Hartford County, which is my native area. It's a small world up here in New England lol.
I think many people on these forums don't understand how hard it is to leave your native state. Or at least it's hard for me. My native state is the benchmark for which all other places are compared to (for my purposes).

Well if you let that get in the way of your happiness and finding the right city for you, then that'll cause you real trouble. By the way, I won't be living in Orlando until August, but I'm in Tampa now so I have been making day trips every now and then to check stuff out.
